On August 13, 2020, Ma Xinmin, Chinese Ambassador to Sudan, talked on the phone with Gafar K. Ahmed, a new ambassador from Sudan to China. They exchanged opinions on how to boost the development of China-Sudan relations and enhance practical cooperation between the two sides.

They both spoke highly of the progress in bilateral relationship and pragmatic cooperation, outlined the key agenda items and priorities with respect to the next phase of China-Sudan relationship. Both of them pledged all-out efforts to foster further development of bilateral ties in political, economic, trade, cultural and other fields. They stressed that priority should be given to epidemic response and public health cooperation at the current moment, and the two nations need to remain committed to pushing China-Sudan strategic partnership to another new level.
